A castle from 1301 above La Bisbal: vows in the olive grove, dinner on the terrace, the party in the cave.
Castell d'Empordà stands on a low hill above La Bisbal, in the Baix Empordà. The castle is from 1301. Around it, twelve hectares of oak and olive, and past the trees the plain: cut fields, a road, mountains on the horizon. The Costa Brava beaches are close. Girona is the city. Barcelona is a drive along the coast, not another country.
We film it as a weekend that takes the hill. The party starts on the parapet, looking over the fields. The ceremony sits in the olive grove, two blocks of chairs, the mountains at the end of the aisle. Later the day moves onto the terraces and, when it is time to dance, down into La Cova del Drac, the cave under the house.
